Effective immediately, employers must report re-hires, or employees who return to work 60 days after being laid off, furloughed, separated, granted a leave without pay, or terminated from employment. Employers must also report any employee who remains on the payroll during a break in service or gap in pay, and then returns to work after 60 days.

Happy New Year! The Wisconsin New Hire Reporting Center reminds all employers to report their new hires and rehires within 20 days of their hire date whether they are full-time, part-time, or temporary. Please remember, a rehire is defined as any employee who has had a gap in pay for 60 or more consecutive days. Employers who submit reports electronically must report their new hires in two monthly transmissions not more than 12-16 days apart. For more information, visit our FAQs and Reporting Fundamentals page.
Have a safe New Year!
